| Assateague State Park, Berlin, MD - May 23-29, 2017
Wild horses in the campground
Enjoy the fun in the Sun! Assateague State Park, Maryland's only ocean park is located on Assateague Island, a barrier island bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by Sinepuxent Bay. Two miles of ocean beaches make this park popular for camping, swimming, beachcombing, sunbathing, surfing and fishing. The island's bay side offers canoeing and kayaking in secluded coves and marsh areas with unbelievable wildlife viewing opportunities. The Assateague wild ponies are among the favorite inhabitants of the island, as well as, sika deer.
Dogs are permitted in the H, I, and J loops and on the beach from the H loop dune crossover south. Reservations should be made one year in advance.
We will do an official tour/photo shoot on Saturday afternoon. Then a potluck at 6 p.m. followed by a Yankee Gift Exchange. Anyone who wants to participate brings a gift - Scotty, or trailer or camping related, or white elephant, value around $10-15. Wrap it. Participants will draw a number. When your number is called, you choose a gift. You may choose to keep your gift or swap with someone else (you take their's they get your's). At the end, whomever had #1, may choose to keep their gift or swap with someone else.
